Surf Guide

You will notice all along our beaches there are flags with multiple different color, each color reflects a certain water condition and indicates the what to expect when you get in the water.

Green Flag

Low hazard, the water is deemed as safe to swim in as a body of water can be.

Yellow Flag

Medium hazard. This it the regular flag condition. It is important to note that swimming in any body of water is dangerous but this flag indicates light surf and or currents.

Purple Flag

Marine pest, being in a naturally occurring ecosystem there will always be wildlife in the water. this flag is to indicate a heightened presence of marine wild life such as, Jellyfish, stingrays, and other potentially dangerous fish.

Purple and Yellow Flag

This flag is frequently hung on days that there are both mild surf and current and marine pest in abundance.

Red Flag

High hazard, Rough conditions such as potential rip currents, strong tide or surf.

Double Red Flag

Water closed to public use due to dangerous conditions.
